Status and Traffic Lights
Every project in your register has one of four statuses. The briefing, the status report and the dashboard turn each status, together with how recently you worked on the project, into a traffic light. This page explains both, along with the priority, category and tags each project carries.
The Four Statuses
Section titled “The Four Statuses”| Status | Meaning | Set by |
|---|---|---|
in-progress |
Live work | /newproject, /night when you approve a new project, or a request to resume or add a project |
paused |
On hold, with a reason | A request to pause the project, which always needs a reason |
overdue |
Past its due date | /day, automatically |
archived |
Finished or no longer relevant | A request to complete or archive the project |
No other status is valid, so values such as “blocked”, “new”, “active” or “discovery” fail validation. The state validation rule also requires pausedReason to stay empty for any project that is not paused.
Traffic Lights
Section titled “Traffic Lights”The traffic light depends on the status and, for live projects, on how many days have passed since lastWorked.
| Light | Label | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| 🟢 | Active | in-progress and worked within the last seven days, with day seven still counting as Active |
| 🟡 | Stale | in-progress and last worked 8 to 27 days ago |
| 🔴 | Needs attention | overdue, or in-progress and last worked 28 or more days ago |
| 🟠 | Paused | paused |
| ⚪ | Archived | archived |
Reports show the label in the status column, never the raw status value. /status sorts projects green first, then yellow, red, orange and finally grey, and lists the last ten archived projects only.
When a Project Goes Overdue
Section titled “When a Project Goes Overdue”Each /day run checks every in-progress project with a due date. When the due date is before today, Claude changes the status to overdue and reports it in chat with the due date. To clear the status, move the due date with a request such as “change the due date for P012 to 2026-11-20”. Then ask Claude to set P012 back to in-progress.
Last Worked
Section titled “Last Worked”lastWorked is the date you last touched the project. /night sets it for each project you worked on, and the project-tracking skill sets it whenever you change a project. Updating a milestone, a tag or a date also counts as working on the project.
Priority
Section titled “Priority”Each project has a priority of high, medium or low, and new projects start at medium. Ask Claude to change it in plain words, for example “set P012 to high priority”.
Categories and Tags
Section titled “Categories and Tags”Every project has exactly one category, chosen from a fixed list.
| Category | Icon in /status |
|---|---|
| Client | 🤝 |
| Product | 📦 |
| Internal | ⚙️ |
| Marketing | 📣 |
| Research | 🔬 |
| Operations | 📋 |
| Finance | 💰 |
| Sales | 📈 |
| Legal | ⚖️ |
| IT | 💻 |
Tags are optional free labels for themes that cut across categories, such as training or compliance. Use them to filter the status report, for example /status --tag training.
Recommended Actions
Section titled “Recommended Actions”The briefing and the status report end with recommended actions in a fixed order of urgency.

overdueor a due date before today. - Projects with a

- The priorities for this week recorded in the same section of your register.
