Dashboard Settings and First-Run Wizard

PRIMA Project Management

The first time a workspace runs /dashboard, Claude gives a short tour of the dashboard in chat before it builds the page. After that, /dashboard goes straight to the build. The Settings view inside the page lists the defaults the page uses.

Claude checks for a marker file before it builds anything.

.claude/state/.dashboard-first-run-complete

When the file is missing, Claude runs the tour. When the file exists, Claude skips the tour without mentioning it.

Claude shows each step as its own message and waits for you before showing the next.

Step What it covers
1. Welcome What the dashboard is, how the build script reads your state files, and that the page never writes to them
2. What works in this version The ten views, the KPI cards, the Gantt charts and the light and dark themes
3. Future plans Items not in this version, such as a working agent chat and a print layout
4. Browser advice The browsers the page supports, and two Safari points about private windows and font weights
5. How to use the views A walk through each view
6. How it fits the suite Which files the dashboard reads and writes, and what it leaves alone
7. Practical notes Rebuilding, where the file lives and how to see the tour again
  • Say “continue”, “next” or “yes” to move to the next step.
  • Say “skip” or “skip tour” at any step to stop the tour, and Claude goes on to build the page.
  • Ask a question at any step, and Claude answers it briefly before asking whether to continue.

When you finish the last step or skip, Claude writes the marker file with the current date and time. The page is then built and opened as usual.

Type /dashboard --tour, or ask Claude to “show me the tour” or “run the tour again”. The tour runs whether or not the marker file exists, and Claude leaves the marker file as it is afterwards.

The Settings view lists the defaults built into the page. In this release every value is read-only, and a banner at the foot of the view says so. Changing a value means editing the dashboard template, a product file that an update to PRIMA Project Management overwrites.

Section Setting Default
Appearance Default theme Light
Appearance Default palette Brand
Tables and Lists Default rows per page 10, for the Projects table
Tables and Lists Default sort column Last worked
Timeline and Calendar Default Timeline zoom All
Timeline and Calendar Default Calendar mode Month
Workspace Workspace name The workspace.name from your register, or “Your Workspace” when it is empty
Workspace Refresh cadence 60 minutes, shown for reference only

The Timeline view has its own default of 15 projects per page.

Some controls on the page keep your choice in your browser’s local storage, so it survives a rebuild of the page.

Control Where you set it
Light or dark theme The sun and moon button in the page header
Mono or Brand palette The switch beside the theme button
Rows per page The selector under the Projects table
Projects per page The selector under the Timeline view

The card at the foot of the sidebar shows workspace.owner from your register. /setup asks for this name, described as “Your name or company name, as it should appear on the dashboard”. When workspace.owner is empty the card shows the workspace name, and when both are empty it shows “Your Workspace”.
