Get AI Business OS

Installing PRIMA CRM

PRIMA CRM

You install PRIMA CRM by pasting the install prompt from the email you receive when you buy it. Claude then installs the server from git.genaiskills.io with your personal key. You do not need a GitHub account.

Check each item below before you paste the prompt.

  • AI Business OS. Your workspace has AI Business OS installed, and /setup has created .claude/state/state.json. See Installing AI Business OS and Running Setup.
  • Node.js 18 or later. Run node --version in a terminal to see which version you have.
  • Claude Code. You open your workspace in VS Code and use Claude Code there. See Requirements.
  • macOS. The product team builds and tests PRIMA CRM on macOS. It may run on Windows through WSL or Git Bash, but Windows is not directly supported.

You do not need PRIMA Project Management. When you have it, its daily briefing and dashboard read the CRM as well.

  1. Open your workspace folder in VS Code, so that the workspace root is the folder you open.
  2. Start Claude Code from that workspace root, using the Claude Code panel or a terminal in that folder.
  3. Copy the install prompt from your PRIMA CRM email and paste it into Claude Code.
  4. Let Claude finish the install, and answer any question it asks along the way.
  5. Restart Claude Code when Claude tells you to, so that it loads the new server.

The install places the server in .claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm/ inside your workspace. Claude installs its dependencies there, builds it and registers its start script, start.sh, with Claude Code.

Buying and Receiving Your Products explains the email and your key.

Ask Claude for a summary of the CRM.

Show me the CRM summary.

Claude calls the crm_summary tool and shows a table of counts, all zero on a new install. If Claude cannot find the tool, the Troubleshooting page lists the usual causes.

The first time Claude calls a CRM tool, the server creates a .prima-crm/ folder in your workspace root. That folder holds two files.

File What it is
.prima-crm/crm.db The CRM database, a SQLite file
.prima-crm/config.json Your CRM settings, written with default contact cadences

SQLite also creates crm.db-wal and crm.db-shm next to the database while the server runs. These hold recent writes, so keep them with crm.db.

Your CRM holds names, email addresses, engagement values and summaries of conversations. AI Business OS does not exclude the .prima-crm/ folder from git for you, so add it yourself.

  1. Open the .gitignore file in your workspace root, or ask Claude to open it for you.
  2. Add the line .prima-crm/ on its own, then save the file.
.prima-crm/

Privacy and Your Data says more about where your data lives.

The server treats the folder Claude Code starts in as your workspace. It looks for .claude/state/state.json and .prima-crm/ in that folder. The start script does not change folder, so the folder you open decides which database the CRM uses.

Item Location
Server code .claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm/ in your workspace
Start script .claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm/start.sh
Dashboard generator .claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm/scripts/build-dashboard.mjs
Database and settings .prima-crm/ in your workspace root, created the first time Claude uses the CRM

PRIMA CRM ships no slash commands, skills, agents or hooks of its own. You work with it by talking to Claude, which calls the CRM tools.

The database upgrades itself. When a new version of the server first opens an older database, it applies the schema changes and keeps your records. A note in the server log records the upgrade.

The /update command in AI Business OS updates the engine files and PRIMA Project Management. It does not update PRIMA CRM, so see Getting Help when you need help with a CRM update.

The steps below follow the PRIMA CRM README, and you run them from your workspace root.

Terminal window
mkdir -p .claude/mcp-servers
cp -r prima-crm .claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm
cd .claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm
npm install
npm run build

Then register the start script in ~/.claude.json under mcpServers, using the absolute path to your workspace.

{
"mcpServers": {
"prima-crm": {
"command": "/absolute/path/to/workspace/.claude/mcp-servers/prima-crm/start.sh"
}
}
}

Restart Claude Code, then ask for the CRM summary to check that the crm_summary tool responds. When you copy a new version over an existing install, leave node_modules/ in place and run npm install and npm run build again. The database driver is compiled for the Node.js version on your machine, so a copied node_modules/ folder may not load.
