Privacy and Your Data

PRIMA Bookkeeper

PRIMA Bookkeeper keeps your books on your own computer. It talks only to the services you connect, which are your bank, your accounts package and your mailboxes.

Data Where it is
Bank lines, proposals, batches, postings and the audit log .prima-bookkeeper/bookkeeper.sqlite in your workspace
Settings, rules and supplier profiles business.json, rules.json and suppliers.json in the same folder
Your invoices and receipts Your own folders and the archive root you chose
Credentials The operating system’s credential store, as Credentials and Security explains
The keepalive log ~/.prima-bookkeeper/keepalive.log, with provider names and lapse dates only

Treat the .prima-bookkeeper folder as confidential business data, because it holds every bank line and supplier the business has.

PRIMA Bookkeeper makes network requests to your bank feed, your accounts package and your mailboxes, using the access you approved for each. Each business registers its own app with each vendor, so no shared PRIMA Bookkeeper service sits between you and your data. It never logs into a supplier’s website and never fetches a page that has refused access.

When your agent calls a PRIMA Bookkeeper tool, the tool’s answer becomes part of your conversation. Your agent’s provider receives the conversation so that it can respond, as it does with any file the agent reads.

  • Document text stays in the engine. The tools return a document’s fields, such as supplier, date, amounts and rates, and never its full text.
  • Mail stays in the engine. Your agent never sees a message the engine did not identify as a supplier’s billing mail.
  • Credentials never reach it. No tool accepts or returns a credential.

Ask for the date ranges and records you need in each conversation, and see your AI plan’s data terms for how your provider handles conversation content.

Add the line below to the .gitignore file in your workspace root, so that a commit or a push never carries your books.

.prima-bookkeeper/

If your archive root sits inside the workspace, add it to .gitignore as well.

  1. Remove each stored credential by running prima-bookkeeper credentials remove with the provider’s name.
  2. Revoke the app or consent on the vendor’s side, in your accounts package, your bank and your mailbox.
  3. Remove the keepalive schedule with prima-bookkeeper keepalive --uninstall, then delete the .prima-bookkeeper folder from your workspace.

Your archive of filed documents stays where you put it, because it is your business record.
