Updating and Uninstalling

PRIMA Bot

PRIMA Bot has two parts that update separately. Claude Code updates itself, and the PRIMA Bot launcher updates when you run its installer again.

  1. Download the new PRIMA Bot Remote Server folder to your Mac.
  2. Open Terminal in that folder and run ./install.sh --load to install the new version.

The installer replaces the launcher and the LaunchAgent, keeps your settings file and restarts the service. Read the CHANGELOG in the new folder for what changed.

The Claude Code installer keeps Claude Code up to date by itself. The PRIMA Bot server keeps running on the version it started with, so restart PRIMA Bot after a Claude Code update to start the server on the new version. Run claude --version to check your version.

Version 2.0.0 renamed every installed file, so the old service comes out before the new one goes in. Run these commands to stop the 1.0.0 service and set its files aside with a .removed ending.

Terminal window
launchctl bootout gui/$(id -u)/com.$(id -un).claude-remote-server
/usr/bin/screen -S claude-remote -X quit
mv ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.$(id -un).claude-remote-server.plist{,.removed}
mv ~/.local/bin/claude-remote-server{,.removed}

Then follow these steps from the new PRIMA Bot folder.

  1. Run ./install.sh without --load, which installs the new files and starts nothing yet.
  2. Copy each of your settings from the old file at ~/.config/claude-remote-server/config into the new file at ~/.config/prima-bot-remote-server/config.
  3. In the new file, change SCREEN_NAME to prima-bot if the line you copied still sets claude-remote.
  4. Run ./install.sh --load from the new PRIMA Bot folder to load and start the new service.

Run the uninstaller from the PRIMA Bot folder.

Terminal window
./uninstall.sh

The uninstaller stops the service and closes the hidden screen window. It renames the LaunchAgent and the launcher with a .removed ending, so macOS no longer starts PRIMA Bot at login. It keeps your settings in ~/.config/prima-bot-remote-server and your log in ~/Library/Logs/prima-bot-remote-server, and you can delete both folders yourself.

Uninstalling PRIMA Bot leaves Claude Code and your workspace as they are. To stop the Mac answering Remote Control at all, see Turning Remote Control Off on Using PRIMA Bot Securely.
