Pausing, Archiving and Milestones
After you create a project, you change it by asking Claude in plain words. The project-tracking skill picks up requests about projects and milestones and writes the change to your register. You never call the skill by name. Every change backs up the register first, validates it before writing and updates the project’s lastWorked date to today.
Pause a Project
Section titled “Pause a Project”Say “pause P012”, “put P012 on hold” or “P012 has to wait”. Claude asks for a reason if you did not give one, because a paused project always needs a reason. The status becomes paused and the reason goes into pausedReason.
Paused P012: Spring Workshop — waiting for venue confirmationResume a Project
Section titled “Resume a Project”Say “resume P012”, “unpause P012” or “restart P012”. The status returns to in-progress, the pause reason clears, and stoppedAt clears so the project starts fresh.
Complete or Archive a Project
Section titled “Complete or Archive a Project”Say “complete P012”, “P012 is done” or “archive P012”, and the status becomes archived while the stoppedAt and lastAction notes clear.
Milestones
Section titled “Milestones”A milestone is a named target date inside a project, such as “Venue booked” on 2026-11-02. Milestones appear in the delivery overview of /status, as diamonds on /timeline and on the dashboard.
Add a Milestone
Section titled “Add a Milestone”Say “add milestone to P012” or “milestone for P012”. Claude asks for the name and target date if you leave them out, and adds the milestone with the status pending.
Added milestone 'Venue booked' (due 2026-11-02) to P012: Spring WorkshopComplete a Milestone
Section titled “Complete a Milestone”Say “complete milestone”, “milestone done” or “mark Venue booked done”. When you do not say which milestone, Claude lists the pending ones for you to choose from. The status changes to done.
Other Changes
Section titled “Other Changes”| You say | What changes |
|---|---|
| “set the start date for P012 to 2026-10-20” | startDate |
| “change the due date for P012 to 2026-11-30” | dueDate |
| “move P012 to marketing” | category, which must be one of the ten categories |
| “tag P012 with training, events” | Adds tags, without duplicates |
| “remove the events tag from P012” | Removes a tag |
| “set P012 to high priority” | priority |
When you ask to tag a project, Claude shows the starting list of tags first. You can pick from it or add your own, separated by commas.
Add a Project Without a Folder
Section titled “Add a Project Without a Folder”Say “add project Spring Workshop” to register a project without creating a folder or planning files. Claude runs the duplicate check, works out the next ID from your register and asks you to choose a category, which every project needs. The new project starts as in-progress with priority medium. Use /newproject when you want the folder, the PRD and the other standard files as well. See Creating a Project.
From the Briefing or the Status Report
Section titled “From the Briefing or the Status Report”/day and /status accept the same requests to complete, archive, pause, resume and add projects. The briefing then builds its page again, so a reload shows the change.
