drafting-documents
The drafting-documents skill writes business documents from a prompt, an outline or reference material you point it to. It covers proposals, reports, briefs, memos and general business correspondence, and it reads your company files so the draft sounds like your organisation.
When Claude Uses It
Section titled “When Claude Uses It”Claude loads the skill when you say “Draft a” or “Write a proposal for” followed by the subject. You can also type /drafting-documents to start it directly.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Claude clarifies the request. It asks for the document type, the audience, the key points, the length and format you want, and any reference material or template to follow.
- Claude reviews the context. It looks for templates in
Documentation/Templates/, reads any source material you named, and notes the terminology of the client or project. - Claude drafts the document. It sets the tone for the audience, structures the document with clear headings, and adds an executive summary to longer documents.
- Claude presents the draft. You review it, Claude applies your changes, and it saves the document once you approve.
Where Documents Are Saved
Section titled “Where Documents Are Saved”Claude saves documents as markdown.
| Document | Location |
|---|---|
| Project document | The project’s folder, as recorded in the project register, which is Domains/NN Domain/{ID} {Project Name}/ |
| Client document | Domains/01 Clients/[Client-Name]/ |
| New template | Documentation/Templates/ |
For example, a proposal for project P012 “Spring Workshop” in the Education and Training domain goes to Domains/15 Education & Training/P012 Spring Workshop/.

Customising the Skill
Section titled “Customising the Skill”The skill file is .claude/skills/drafting-documents/SKILL.md. It is a customisable engine file, so your edits survive /update through a three-way merge.
To give the skill your own examples, follow these steps.
- Create a
references/folder inside.claude/skills/drafting-documents/. - Add sample documents you consider high quality.
- Add boilerplate sections such as disclaimers, signatures and standard terms.
- Add any document structures specific to your industry, and a house style guide if
voice.mddoes not cover it.
Claude reads the references/ folder when it drafts.
