/newclient

AI Business OS

/newclient creates a folder for a new client or customer. Claude asks for the client’s name and at least one contact, builds the folder with a profile file and three subfolders, and then offers to create a first project for that client.

/newclient stays the same when PRIMA Project Management is installed, because PRIMA Project Management does not include a version of this command.

Use /newclient when you start working with a new client or customer and want one place for everything you hold about them. Work you do for a client lives in that client’s folder. Your own business functions, such as your own marketing, live in the other domains. The Domains page explains the difference.

  1. Type /newclient in the Claude Code panel, followed by the client’s name if you know it, and press Enter.
  2. Give the names of the people you deal with at the client, as a comma-separated list or a numbered list.
  3. Give the client’s industry if you want it recorded, or skip it.
  4. Say yes or no when Claude offers to create a project for the client.

You can give the name with the command, for example /newclient Harbour Dental. Claude then asks only for the contacts. Names are enough for now, because you can add roles, email addresses and phone numbers to the profile later.

Claude turns the client’s name into a folder name in title case with hyphens for spaces, so Harbour Dental becomes Harbour-Dental. Claude creates the folder at Domains/01 Clients/Harbour-Dental/.

Item Purpose
README.md The client profile, with the industry, the date the relationship started, a contacts table, active projects, notes and the cloud storage location for the client’s large files
Projects/ Work you do for this client
Communications/ Meeting notes, email summaries and call logs
Reference/ Material the client supplied, such as contracts, briefs and brand guidelines

The contacts table in README.md lists each name you gave, with the role, email and phone columns marked “To be added”.

/newclient creates a folder. It does not add anything to your project register, so the new client does not appear in /day or /status until it has a project.

After the folder is ready, Claude asks whether you want a project for this client. If you say yes, Claude runs /newproject with the category already set to Client. It carries the company name and the contact names into the new project’s entry in .claude/state/state.json as companyName and contacts. Every client project needs both fields, with at least one contact. PRIMA CRM reads them when it is installed.
